While I'm still stuck in a Touhou mood, I figured I'd keep making more Touhou OCs. Still have no idea if I'm going to try to make a fan game for the OC Club's contest, but we'll see. I'm half-in the mood for Touhou and half-in the mood for WH40k, so I'm not sure what I'm going to work on more. Speaking of WH40k, I decided to draw this concept like some of my other "half-erased-floor" style drawings that I use for concept sketches. Don't know why.
Anyway, I named her Teishi Kansougia, which, if I'm correct, means Apprentice (Teishi) and a portmanteau of Dry (Kansou) and Gear (Gia). I like the name, and I'm quite fond of the drawing. She's a kappa, like Nitori, and uses various mechs for combat against more powerful youkai and humans, though I still don't think she'd be anywhere past 4th stage if she was a boss in a game. While friendly to most, I decided she is very ambitious and knowledge-hungry, and arrogantly dismissive of others. She's the oddball in the kappa community that prefers weapons technology to less destructive ventures, and can't see why her peers waste their time on phones and cameras when the kappas could build weapons capable of conquering all of Gensokyo for themselves (at least, she thinks so). I don't want her to be pushed too far into evil territory, more overconfident, such that beating her in a boss fight would humble her enough to lessen her violent designs. She has a rarely-used power to force evaporation of water, an ability that tends to ostracize her from some of her fellow kappas, however, it also has the advantage of making her machines immune to rust and rot. I like to think water-control vs. dry-control would force Teishi and Nitori into a bit of a rivalry, but I'll leave it at that.
I'm fond of the character and design. Her short hair and thicker eyebrows were spur of the moment decisions, but I think they look good. I'm especially fond of the rocket-launching walker-mech. Hope you guys like her.
